“Anything worth doing is going to be difficult”

Long distance running may not be the most effective way to lose body fat (see previous article), but if you’re looking for inspiration to achieve your personal fitness goals, look no further than this man who shows that just about anything is possible with a bit of discipline and determination.

Fauja Singh, at 100 years old, recently completed the Toronto marathon in a time of 8 hours, 25 minutes and 15 seconds, becoming the oldest person ever to finish a full-length marathon.

When interviewed after the race, Fauja said: “Girl, you tell me: has anything you wanted ever been easy? I was so worried we might not make it that we didn’t tell our relatives we were doing it. I just wanted to break that bloody record.”
